Then challenge them to think about why this argument is invalid. Have students suggest a few reasons it might be good to let students have cell phones in school. When it is time to walk your students through the process of persuasion, follow this guideline on the argumentative essay to achieve a convincing result.
Still, they must be a topic on which someone can take an opposing viewpoint. This approach is serving double duty. Does each paragraph offer compelling evidence focused on a single supporting point?
Your students can start with any style introduction that seems most effective, but the body of the essay should be rather straightforward.
